Question Of The Day: November 20, 2006
Rename Your Digital Photos

If you’re new to digital photography, you’ll quickly notice that your camera labels your photos using a seemingly undecipherable numbering scheme. The good news is several options are available for sensibly renaming your photos rather than right-clicking each photo individually and selecting Rename from the resulting context menu. One option is software that specializes at helping you organize and name your photos. One of the more interesting programs we’ve seen lately is PictureRetitle ($11.95; www.pictureretitle.com), which uses active and static dictionaries that suggest names for your photos based on previous entries you enter in the program. Think of how Google’s search menu automatically offers search suggestions as you type a query in its search field and you have an idea of how PictureRetitle’s dictionaries operate.
